Abstract

This article aims to present to the general public the existence of a scientific discipline that, throughout history, has allowed us not only to understand the interactions (at a chemical level) and relationships existing between all living beings (including bacteria, fungi, plants, and animals), but also how humans have taken advantage of this knowledge for their benefit, thus obtaining medicines, agrochemicals and fertilizers for crops, food supplements, cosmeceuticals, nutraceuticals, among other value-added products from nature itself. This is all thanks to the research and technological development work in Natural Products Chemistry. However, before getting to it, let us define some fundamental concepts to understand better what it is and what it is used for.
