DEL DESCUBRIMIENTO DE LA MORFINA A LA SÍNTESIS DEL FENTANILO

Resumen
El descubrimiento de la morfina a partir de Papaver somniferum representó un gran aporte en la terapéutica del dolor severo e impulsó el desarrollo de otros medicamentos, tanto semisintéticos como sintéticos, que son capaces de controlar el dolor de forma efectiva. Sin embargo, su potencial adictivo ha generado una crisis de salud pública de gran magnitud. Tal es el caso del fentanilo, cuya creciente demanda ha llevado a que se sintetice de manera ilegal, junto con diversos productos análogos que llegan a causar un alarmante número de muertes en caso de sobredosis. Para enfrentar esta problemática, no basta con la intervención gubernamental, es indispensable la colaboración activa de múltiples sectores de la sociedad a fin de regular el uso de los analgésicos y garantizar que su consumo se limite a tratamientos bajo estricta supervisión médica.
