Abstract
Computer-aided diagnostic systems have been commonplace even before the term data science was coined. Among these systems, those involved with medical image analysis are challenging, as they require multivariate statistical modelling and effective classification schemes. Always close to the medical experts at the National Institutes of Health and other clinical settings, the Neuroimaging Laboratory at UAM Iztapalapa has dedicated over thirty years of research and development to this subject. That experience is recounted in this paper
