Abstract
Since the discovery of nuclear fission and control of the chain reaction, nuclear energy has been in constant research and development. Its applications include electrical generation systems, medical applications, agriculture, and transportation systems, such as icebreakers and submarines, to name a few. The use of nuclear reactors in submarines has allowed them to increase their efficiency, reaching higher speeds and increasing the time they can be submerged. This article presents the history and operation of nuclear submarines.
