Listando las aves en un conjunto urbano mediante ciencia ciudadana

Abstract

Citizen science has applications in biodiversity research, in addition to providing emotional benefits to the people who participate in this activity. In this study, we invited the general public to a series of bird identification courses, with the purpose of generating a list of the birdlife in an urban complex in the State of Mexico, and at the same time, evaluate the impact of this activity on the emotional well-being of the participants. As a result, we identified 24 species belonging to four taxonomic orders. In addition, self-reported well-being improved in participants as a result of their involvement in the courses.
