De lo rural a lo rururbano en el Municipio de Benito Juárez, Tlaxcala
Abstract
In Benito Juárez, Tlaxcala, migration affects families in several ways. It causes the loss of social ties and family cohesion, as members disperse in search of better economic opportunities. Additionally, the abandonment of agricultural activities and the sale of farmland weakens the family economy and impacts food security. The role of women has increased in agricultural activities and at home. External factors, lack of support, and low incomes also contribute to this situation. Furthermore, the children of female farmers choose not to continue in agriculture and pursue their studies instead. Many agricultural and livestock lands have been sold, leading to the loss of the rural landscape. The low economic productivity of agriculture has prompted part of the population to migrate in search of better living conditions. The transition to urbanization has brought services such as stores, financial services, telecommunications, and public lighting.
