Ethical Conflict in Health Protocols Related to the Methodology and the Choice of the Community and / or Individual
Abstract
Research ethics committees seek to regulate health research involving human subjects. In the framework of international regulations, the Mexican legislation establishes the General Health Law (2006) the bases for the regulation of research involving human subjects and implements it through regulations, being fundamental reference the Regulation of the General Health Law in Research Subject for Health (1983). From these referents it is recognized that the evaluation of protocols that require the participation ofhuman subjects are: 1) protection; 2) welfare; 3) respect for rights; 4) respect for dignity. These considerations have to be evaluated from the risk - benefit relationship. This perspective is valid for all the participants in these production processes. Sorne of the problems we have encountered in conducting the ethical evaluation of health research protocols have to do with diff erent aspects, such as the methodology and the choice of the site, the community and / or the individual, in protocols in health where human subj ects participate.
